Ráðstefna um kyngervi, umhverfi og samfélagsþróun á norðurslóðum

Jafnréttisstofa

The West-Nordic and Arctic countries and nations share a heavy reliance on the natural environment. It is therefore of the utmost importance to the survival and development of these areas that sustainable development be ensured. The United Nations has made it clear that sustainable development cannot be achieved without gender equality. Many small coastal communities in the Arctic are, however, experiencing a disproportionate outflux of women. It is therefore very important to examine the interplay of gender and environment in shaping societal development in these areas. The aim of the conference is to create a forum for cooperation, where ideas and experiences can be shared by academics and policymakers.
