Statement by Iceland

Mr. Vice President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Greece and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Strengthen implementation of existing laws and policies on gender-based violence, including through effective enforcement and adequately funded support services for victims and survivors.

2. Ensure adequate documentation and investigation of all allegations of sexual and gender-based violence in border operations.

3. Fully implement the intersex rights set out in Law 4958/2022.

4. Strengthen availability and accessibility of sexual and reproductive health services and information across the country.

5. Ensure access to comprehensive sexuality education in and out of school settings.

6. Effectively combat hate speech targeted at persons of diverse SOGIESC, both offline and online, including by advancing legislation, policies and collaboration with civil society.
