Deputy Head of Mission participated in the 10th Ulaanbaatar Dialogue in Mongolia

Inda Dóra Pétursdóttir, Deputy Head of Mission participated in the 10th Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security, held in Mongolia. The two-day international conference brought together over 230 scholars, researchers, and government officials from more than 40 countries of the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.

Since the 1980s, Mongolia has actively pursued the establishment of a dialogue mechanism for Northeast Asia. This commitment culminated in the launch of the “Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security” initiative in 2013. Mongolia’s foreign policy has emphasized Mongolia’s role to build bridges between their two neighbors Russia and China as well as between central Asian countries and north east Asian neighbors. The Dialogue has developed into a respected international platform for discussions on regional security, cooperation, and confidence-building.

The 10th Ulaanbaatar Dialogue featured five thematic sessions focused on key regional concerns: “Security Challenges and Opportunities in Northeast Asia,” “Multilateral Cooperation in Northeast Asia,” “Climate Change and Security Challenges in Northeast Asia,” “Regional Cooperation between Northeast and Central Asia,” and “Energy Resilience in Northeast Asia and Climate Change.”

In her intervention, the Deputy Head of Mission underlined Iceland´s support for inclusive, multilateral dialogue and its growing engagement in regional and global discussions on peace, security, and sustainability.
