Um fastanefndina
Fastanefnd Íslands hjá Atlantshafsbandalaginu (NATO) var opnuð árið 1952 þegar Norður-Atlantshafsráðið var gert að fastaráði með aðsetur í París. Höfuðstöðvar bandalagsins voru fluttar til Brussel árið 1967 og fluttust þangað jafnframt fastanefndir allra bandalagsríkja.
Fastanefndin fer með fyrirsvar íslenskra stjórnvalda gagnvart Atlantshafsbandalaginu og starfar að hagsmunagæslu, samráði og ákvarðanatöku um þau mál sem bandalagið fjallar um.
